EVRY Strategic Design Lab
Strategic Design & Capability Building
EVRY is one of the leading IT suppliers in the Nordics, with €1.4b revenue and 10,000 employees serving 8,000 customers. While at the forefront of IT infrastructure today, EVRY – like its clients – is undergoing their own transformation driven by the forces of digitisation.
Method partnered with EVRY to establish the EVRY Strategic Design Lab, an innovation unit within the company with the objectives of changing customer perceptions from IT vendor to digital leader. The Lab was devised as a “North Star” Strategic Design Capability within the organisation, exposing existing design teams to new methodologies and approaches.
This change has initiated more strategic engagements for EVRY, attracted a higher caliber of talent and given meaning to their Digital Advantage offering. This engagement also helped EVRY better identify, define and validate the value contribution of their other top tier strategic partners Google, IBM, Amazon, Facebook and Apple.

Capability building
In order to create an entirely new Strategic Design capability within a large organisation like EVRY it was necessary to seed the Lab with team members from Method. I was a founding member of the EVRY Strategic Design Lab.
My role spanned a wide range of activities over a 2 year period. These involved the initial creation of a unique Lab workspace in Stockholm, the running of client workshops as a means of selling and communicating the Strategic Design Lab's capabilities and ultimately running the Lab's first few client projects.
These initial Strategic Design projects were predominantly for EVRY's financial services clients. My role involved leading these projects and recruiting design teams from within EVRY, mentoring these teams and growing their capability in strategic design. Projects included developing a Mobile Banking App for Gjensidige Bank and developing an AI tool for wealth managers at Sparebank1.
We created new rituals, set new behaviors, encouraged a culture of collaboration and workshops, and improved their product and service innovation over three years on over 65+ individual workstreams. Addressing some of the most important questions of our time including national e-currencies, education, mobility, financial empowerment, city infrastructure, and venture innovation.
In December 2018 the Strategic Design Lab was integrated into EVRY business units. The guiding principles have become part of EVRY’s day to day operations as well as informed their corporate charter. A successful IPO, a step-change in client perception, of employer attractiveness and reinvigorated purpose.
Brand identity
I developed the Strategic Design Lab visual brand. The look and feel was designed to feel removed from EVRY's core brand whilst still retaining the brand's core assets, colour palette and typeface.
