UKTV is a UK network of 10 TV channels, with a wide range of content. We updated their brand positioning to the idea of ‘Imagine More’ and created a visual brand which sits at the centre of the network of channels.

The UKTV mark was inspired by the idea of cloud watching. An arresting form that can be interpreted in many ways as it rotates and changes. The channels in the network orbit around this central form, a cloud that sits above all content.

The identity had to work from large scale sales tools, selling the network and its programming to broadcasters, down to a small on-air bug which sits in the corner of the television screen.

The brand idea of ‘Imagine More’ informed the rest of the system, using quotes and imagery from programming content within a gaseous cloud-like atmosphere.

Imagery is always embedded within the cloud atmosphere and removed from its context. This avoided the usual approach of using stills from tv shows as primary imagery.
